My mother-in-law gave me my first starter! I only made one kind of bread with it. We eventually got tired of it and so I stopped the starter. I didn't know that you could make other items, like different breads, cakes, etc. until I saw your website (Just a few days ago)! My children love to cook and bake with me - I'm going to start a "starter" today! THANK YOU!

My most recent starter came from my 26 year old son. He is keeping his starter going while his wife is newly pregnant and gets sick all the time. He gave me one of starters and I couldn't say no. I wanted to find a way to make the bread Weight Watcher friendly - and I think I was successful at doing that. I will post the changes on the site.
I am from Missouri - the "show me" state. So I will show you what I did with my Friendship bread batter.

Very Pleased with the results.

My family and I were driving home from Texas to Illinois for my baby brother's wedding. My husband was on facebook with his iphone. One of his high school friends was posting that she was baking a batch of friendship bread. I jokingly told him to write on her wall that his wife wanted starter. Two days later he met her in his hometown and I have kept that starter going till today. I have frozen and thawed to keep it going, and it is right on hand in my freezer whenever I crave some delicious goodness!

I got my first ever starter from my husbands ex-wife. My husband and I spent the first couple of years together missing so much in our children's/step-children's lives because my husband and his ex couldn't leave the past in the past. I spent a couple of years helping them to see that it was no longer about them but about their children. After they let go of the past we became a new family with different dynamics. Our children are now able to invite both parents to their homes and gatherings without having to choose between which parent to invite this time. Once we got to that point, my husband's ex gave me a starter and it started a friendship between us.

I've loved it so much that I share it with others every chance I get. We keep it going in the family by sharing between my husband's ex and now our friend, our daughter and our son. I can honestly say that this truly is friendship bread :D

I started my own. I have made the bread years ago with starter others gave me. But this time I started my own and gave the bags to co-workers. I intend to freeze this batch instead of giving it away.

I was thrilled to learn that you can make your own starter. Guess the secret is out of the bag :)
