“Quick and easy frosting.”

Ingredients

2 egg whites
1 1/2 cups sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/3 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

  1. Combine all the ingredients except vanilla in a double boiler.
  2. Beat until mixed.
  3. Once the water comes to a boil, beat on high with a electric mixer for 7 minutes or until icing stands in peaks.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Stir in vanilla and beat again.

From Denise Coard: “Once the cake is frosted add on toppings such as nuts or sprinkles. This icing is perfect for the Amish Friendship Bread 4th of July Cake.”
