Kitchen Notes
From Anne: “This recipe will make 24 cupcakes or 12 cupcakes and one loaf of bread. Bake the bread for 45 minutes. If you use the jumbo muffin tins, plan on cooking for 45 minutes. Chocolate muffins are pretty heavy, but these are perfect!”

I am most interested in the sugar-free recipes
Hi Carolyn!
Thanks for your comment. If you go back to the Recipe Box, the top 3 recipes are for the Starters. The Kitchen tested a Sugar-Free Starter. Use that and it will cut down on the sugar in your bread. Play around with the recipe and you can cut the sugar down even more! Happy Baking.
What can I use instead of the instant chocolate pudding mix??
Hi Elaine,
The recipe box has a recipe for chocolate pudding so you can avoid the box mix if you wish. That is the substitution that we recommend. Hope that helps!
Happy Baking!
Guess what I just did. I pulled a batch of these out of the oven and realized I forgot the extra sugar! And wouldn’t you know it, I still think they’re great. There’s enough sugar between the starter, pudding, and choc. chips that they are just lightly sweet and delicious. I recommend it if you’re trying to cut down your sugar!
Thanks for your tip, Christy! We’ll have to add it to the Kitchen Notes! Happy Baking.
Just made these! My kids and husband love them! I subbed 1/2 c of wheat bran for 1/2 a cup of the flour and added an extra 1/4 cup of cocoa. Also, I swapped applesauce for half of the oil. SOOOOOOOOOO good!
