      Thanks for your comment. If you go back to the Recipe Box, the top 3 recipes are for the Starters. The Kitchen tested a Sugar-Free Starter. Use that and it will cut down on the sugar in your bread. Play around with the recipe and you can cut the sugar down even more! Happy Baking.

      The recipe box has a recipe for chocolate pudding so you can avoid the box mix if you wish. That is the substitution that we recommend. Hope that helps!

  3. Guess what I just did. I pulled a batch of these out of the oven and realized I forgot the extra sugar! And wouldn’t you know it, I still think they’re great. There’s enough sugar between the starter, pudding, and choc. chips that they are just lightly sweet and delicious. I recommend it if you’re trying to cut down your sugar!

  4. Just made these! My kids and husband love them! I subbed 1/2 c of wheat bran for 1/2 a cup of the flour and added an extra 1/4 cup of cocoa. Also, I swapped applesauce for half of the oil. SOOOOOOOOOO good!
