“A Weight Watchers variation for Amish Friendship Bread lovers.”

Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 48 minutes
Servings: 15
Yield: 5 mini loaves

Ingredients

1 cup Amish Friendship Bread Starter
1/3 cup oil
3 eggs
1/2 cup skim milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 cup white flour
1 cup white wheat flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 small box vanilla pudding
1 cup raisins
1 cup walnuts
1 cup chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 325° F (165° C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, add ingredients as listed.
  3. Grease two large loaf pans or 5 mini-loaf pans.
  4. Dust the greased pans with a very light mixture of sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into pans and sprinkle with a very light mixture of sugar and cinnamon on the top.
  6. Bake for 48-60 minutes or until the bread loosens evenly from the sides and a toothpick inserted in the center of the bread comes out clean.

    I ran this recipe thru the calculater on Weight Watchers site, came up with 8 pts/slice.

    Can you substitute oil with apple sauce?

      Hi Linda
      Yes, you can most people substitute have the oil for half the applesauce. If you do other baking with this substitute then you can do the same with this recipe.
      Have fun with it and let us know how your baking turns out!

    I cut the oil and added the applesauce and it was 3 pts per serving (6 slices per small loaf). But I did not put any points for the starter!!!! So I would add a few points for the starter.
