This is a great recipe for the top. I add a bit more cinnamon, I just feel that is one of the reasons you get coffee cake is for the cinnamon so I add an extra 1/2 t.

What is Bisquick please or does anyone know the Australian equivalent?

    • Susan says:

      Hi Helen,

Bisquick is a pre-mixed baking product made by General Mills consisting of flour, sugar, vegetable shortening, salt, powdered milk and leavening soda. Does that make it more clear? Do you have such products in Australia?

Here is a “copy” of a similar recipe:
      Basic Baking Mix like Bisquick®

      Prep. Time : 0:10

      10 cups all-purpose flour
      3/8 cup baking powder
      1 tsp. cream of tartar
      1 1/4 cup powdered milk
      1 1/2 Tbls. salt
      1/4 cup granulated sugar
      1 Lb. shortening/

-Combine all ingredients; mix well cutting shortening into all.
-Store in an air tight container up to 1 month.

Let us know what you come up with!
