Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients

1 stick butter, softened
3 ounces cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
a pinch of salt
1 pound confectioners’ sugar

Directions

  1. With an electric mixer at medium speed, beat butter and cream cheese until soft and fluffy.
  2. Add vanilla extract and salt and beat well.
  3. Slowly add sugar and mix at medium speed until frosting is fluffy and spreadable.

Kitchen Notes

If baking a variation with lemon or citrus, add 1 tablesppon freshly grated lemon or orange zest into the frosting for a fresh flavor boost.

This frosting recipe makes enough for two batches (four loaves) of bread, so you may want to double your bread recipe because these loaves will disappear in a hurry!
