December Kitchen Notes & The Twelve Days of Kitchen Giveaway

Hi Kitchen Friends!

Happy December! First, thank you all for your speedy replies on Facebook about wanting an Amish Friendship Bread cookbook, and for letting me know that you prefer a real book versus an e-book. I plan to make it a priority in the new year and will be looking to all of you for your input.

I love how the Friendship Bread Kitchen has grown over the past couple of years! We are nearing 75,000 folks on the Facebook page, with over 5,000 on our mailing list, and I’d love to hear from you about what would make the Kitchen a better resource for you. Feel free to send me an email at fbkitchen {at} gmail {dot} com or leave a comment here or on Facebook. I look forward to hearing from you.

In bookstores 1/29/13

After coexisting on the Kitchen site for the past couple of years, I now have an author site (http://www.dariengee.com) and Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/authordariengee). Please swing by and say hi!

For those of you who enjoyed Friendship Bread, the sequel will be published by Ballantine Books next month, as well as in 11 other countries. It’s called the The Avalon Ladies Scrapbooking Society and it’s about memories—not just the ones we already have, but the ones yet to be made. More importantly it’s about friendship and community, and how we are all connected in ways both seen and unseen.

It’s the sequel to my first novel, Friendship Bread, the book that kicked off the Kitchen back in 2009. It’s based on the lives of a handful of residents of Avalon, Illinois, a small river town that embodies both community and friendship. You can read more an excerpt of the novel here.

“[Darien] Gee … [gets the] tone just right with the irresistible premise
that we can love the impossible. A surefire book club hit.”
Publisher’s Weekly

Read on for more details on how to get an early copy, plus a whole lot more! Heartfelt thanks to Ballantine Books for supplying the ARC’s and sending them on to the winners on my behalf!

The Twelve Days of Kitchen Giveaway

For twelve days starting Friday December 7, 2012 I’ll be blogging a new giveaway post daily and giving away a review copy of a book (also known as an ARC) of  The Avalon Ladies Scrapbooking Society along with a favorite Kitchen item. A new giveaway opens each day at 12:01 am PST and runs until December 18, 2012 at 11:59 pm PST, the Twelfth and final Day of Kitchen.

*SUBSCRIBER BONUS!* As a thank you, newsletter subscribers receive one extra entry per contest. Just leave a second comment below telling me you’re on the mailing list so we can verify. Please note: You must be a current newsletter subscriber, and you must be verified. After signing up, you’ll receive an email asking you to confirm your subscription. We do this to protect you from being added to our list accidentally. If you haven’t confirmed your subscription, then you aren’t a current subscriber. Please check your email inbox (or spam) to see if it’s there if you want your extra comments to count.

Winners will be announced by December 20, 2012: http://www.friendshipbreadkitchen.com/pantry/12-days-kitchen-2012-winners ‎

PLEASE NOTE: This post is the informational post only. You must leave a comment on each giveaway post you want to enter, NOT HERE. Each day and each giveaway has its own entry rules, so please read them carefully as incomplete entries will not be counted.

  32. Hi everyone!

I can see there’s a little confusion going on, so I am closing comments on this post which is basically the FAQ/101/headquarters for the giveaway, but not the giveaway itself. To enter a giveaway, click on the photo above and you will be taken to the post (remember that the day must be “opened” which means you can only enter the day’s giveaway and any prior ones, but not tomorrow’s or the day after until that day arrives).

If you have a question, shoot it over to fbkitchen {at} gmail {dot} com. But almost all of your questions can be answered in the post above, so please read it (and each giveaway post) carefully. Good luck and remember that you can enter ALL of the giveaways that are open, from the First Day of Kitchen to now. Thanks for joining me in the Kitchen!
