First Day of Kitchen

First Day of Kitchen
Meet Bettie Shelton, 77, founder of the Avalon Ladies Scrapbooking Society
Famous Bettie quotes: “Do I want weird or normal?” “Scrappetizers are the key to any successful scrapbooking event. It’s a little-known fact, but crafters always work better on a full stomach.” “Get me a pot of Darjeeling tea!”
Bettie is a scrappy woman who not-so-gently nudges the town of Avalon into recording their memories, even when they don’t want to. But why does Bettie do this, and what will she do when an unexpected development in her own life threatens to change everything? Read The Avalon Ladies Scrapbooking Society to learn more!

Thanks, I noticed that too — it took a couple of minutes for it to reset (I refreshed my browser) and then it seemed to be working. If you get a chance to try again, that’d be great, but otherwise no worries!

Under Bettie’s guidance, even the most reluctant of Avalon’s residents come to terms with their past and make bold decisions about their future.

Hi, from Sacramento, CA. Loved Friendship Bread. In your new book, Isabel, paints the living room Whisper White, “looking for a hint of the past…” cannot wait to read the whole book!
Hello, I have to say I just receive my first friendship bread starter last week, I am an avid scrapbooker and I love to read. You have struck on three things that are close to my heart. When I saw your website for the first time yesterday for friendship bread( thanks to Pinterest) I quickly made two of the recipes,( the sourdough bread and monkey bread a still rising) then when I sat down this morning with my coffe and began to search your sit again I came across your books. You can’t believe how excited I am to get my hands on these. I have to say reading the excert about the “Avalon Ladies” there were so many things that I liked about it, but one detail that I can relate to was Ava having someone save her bottle caps. I have had my friends saving me pop tabs so I can make lampshades for my son’s bedroom. Like I said, I can’t wait to read these books. And thanks for all the great recipes! Tracy from Trail, BC, Canada
Ok all I have to say is – sorry for the terrible spelling, sometimes my brain works faster than my fingers and spellcheck can’t figure out where to correct my mistakes. Thanks again!
I loved the first book and it got me interested in Amish friendship bread again. Now maybe this new book will get me interested again in scrap booking or at least getting my pictures into scrapbooks.
I’m live in Ulysses, KS

All 3 boys share a room. I have 3 sisters and shared a bedroom with them for about 9 years. I love my sisters very much; they are my best friends. When we moved into a large two story victorian, the two older of us had our own rooms and the youngest two shared a room. Honestly, I missed being in the same room with my sisters. It’s nice to snuggle next to someone at night. I am a new subscriber and I’m from northern California in a small town called Ukiah.
