“A warm, sticky cinnamon Amish Friendship Bread treat!”

Prep Time: 2 hours
Cook Time: 25 minutes
Servings: 9-10
Yield: 9-10 buns

Ingredients

Dough
1 package yeast
1/4 cup sugar
1 cup Amish Friendship Bread Starter
1/2 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
2-1/2 to 3 cups all purpose flour

Filling
1/2 cup sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 cup butter, softened

Topping
3/4 cup whole milk, half-n-half, or heavy whipping cream
1 cup packed brown sugar

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, mix starter and milk.
  2. Warm mixture in microwave until it reaches 110
  3. Add in yeast and 1/4 cup sugar. Mix well and let rest 5 minutes.
  4. Add in melted butter, egg and salt. Mix well.
  5. Add in 1 1/2 cups of flour and mix well. Keep mixing in flour until a soft dough is formed.
  6. Turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead dough until smooth and elastic. This takes about 7 minutes.
  7. Grease a clean bowl and add in kneaded dough.
  8. Cover with towel and let rise 1 hour.
  9. Punch down down.
  10. Roll out onto a floured surface into a 8 x 13 inch rectangle.
  11. Spread softened butter on top and sprinkle on 1/2 cup of sugar and cinnamon.
  12. Begin at narrow side and roll up dough. Seal the seam.
  13. Cut 9-10 3/4 inch thick slices.
  14. In a greased 9 x 9 pan, spread out 1/2 cup packed brown sugar.
  15. Pour half of the milk over the sugar in pan.
  16. Place each cinnamon roll in the pan.
  17. Sprinkle remaining brown sugar over the rolls and pour remaining milk over the top.
  18. Preheat over to 375° F (190° C).
  19. Let rise for 30 minutes in a warm place.
  20. Bake for 25 minutes.
  21. Cool for 5 minutes in pan and then invert onto a serving platter.
